The Truce at Bakura is a crucial novel of the EU that is referenced countless times by other books. It's essentially an invasion of the galaxy by the Ssi'ruuk, a species that I imagine looking like Wrex from Mass Effect.

It's well-written and an enjoyable /5(). So – I’ve just finished re-reading The Truce at Bakura, the fourth of the ‘90s Star Wars EU novels to be published. I first read this ~25 years ago, when it was first published in the UK, and back then I was pretty underwhelmed with it after the magnificence of Zahn’s Thrawn Trilogy/5.

Kathy Tyers is the author of the Firebird series (Firebird, Fusion Fire, Crown of Fire, and Daystar) and stand-alone science fiction (Shivering World, Crystal Witness, and One Mind’s Eye).). She has also written several original Star Wars stories, including the New York Times bestselling novel The Truce at lives in southwestern : Random House Publishing Group.

Capturing the sweep and excitement of the original Star Wars saga, The Truce at Bakura plants a seed of hope for peace, sees the formation of a timeless love, and stands witness to a Jedi's undying /5(13). A curious story. The Truce at Bakura is one of the first EU novla and it really shows.

A worthy story, but some of the characterisations are a little simplistic. Still, it gave us two of the more interesting characters in the early years. Gaeriel Captison and Pter Thanas. Overall, I'd recommend giving it a go, but there are better stories to come. About The Truce at Bakura: Star Wars Legends No sooner has Darth Vader’s funeral pyre burned to ashes on Endor than the Alliance intercepts a call for help from a far-flung Imperial outpost.

Being a first time SW novel reader, Star Wars: The Truce at Bakura seemed like an excellent place to start, as it begins a mere 12 to 24 hours after the end of Return of the Jedi (which makes this novel Episode VII, I guess).Still flush from the success of their critical attack against the Empire, the Rebel Alliance troops receive a distress beacon intended for the Emperor and his more.

Taking place just after Return of the Jedi, the Truce at Bakura is an important novel in the Expanded Universe.

It shows the start of the post-Emperor galaxy as the Rebels wrestle with Imperial remnants. It's also a great adventure involving a number of our favorite characters, including Luke, Leia, and Han.

According to Wikipedia, Kathy Tyers' The Truce at Bakura looks like the first book after Return of the Jedi chronologically. That being said, I've always considered Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy (starting with Heir to the Empire) to be my stand-in for episodes The quality of those books in particular is quite high, and the narrative is largely about the same characters as in the movies.

The Truce At Bakura () About book: Yes, I know, another SW:EU novel. But they're a special brand of crack, and it's fun revisiting the things I was so thoroughly addicted to in / This is probably one of, if not the best, novel which has been written in the Star Wars extended universe.

Kathy Tyers' Star Wars: The Truce at Bakura, first published inis an enjoyable "expanded universe" novel featuring the heroes from the Classic Trilogy in a /5(). The Truce at Bakura takes place mere days after the end of Return of the Jedi. The Rebel Alliance has intercepted a communique bound for the Imperials asking for help at Bakura, a planet on the edge of known space.

Little is known of Bakura, but the Imperials who rule the planet are begging for help from an unknown invading alien force.

Truce at Bakura Sourcebook book. Read reviews from world’s largest community for readers/5. Where does Star Wars: The Truce at Bakura rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far.

Hard to say, I've listened to a lot. It's somewhere in the middle as far as Star Wars novels go; not bad, lots of good action and interesting plotline, but not as exciting as other EU stories like the Thrawn trilogy or the yuuzhan vong war.

Written by Kathy Tyers and published in JanuaryThe Truce at Bakura holds the distinction of being the tenth Legends novel published by Bantam, released months after The Thrawn Trilogy and The Glove of Darth 's also set immediately after Return of the Jedi, beginning literally the day after the movie's events, and for that reason is often cited (along with the Thrawn Trilogy) as.
